Analisis Konsep Penerimaan Orang Asing Dalam Nilai Budaya Matuari Dan Hospitalitas Pastoral menurut Christine D. Pohl

Abstract

This paper attempts to examine the relationship between Matuari cultural values ​​in Minahasan society and Christine D. Pohl's concept of pastoral hospitality, particularly in the attitude of welcoming strangers. The Matuari tradition emphasizes the spirit of living together, solidarity, and openness, which have long been the foundation of Minahasan social interaction. This principle is seen as aligned with Pohl's idea that hospitality is not merely an act of providing shelter or protection, but rather creating a relational space that allows strangers to be accepted unconditionally, with respect for their dignity and diversity. The research was conducted through a qualitative approach with analytical methods, combining literature studies and in-depth interviews to gain a comprehensive understanding of the practice and meaning of hospitality. The results show significant intersections between Matuari local wisdom and pastoral reflection, and emphasize the importance of building a more inclusive, humanistic, and transformative church service space in strengthening social cohesion in a multicultural society.
